What's New In Calgary?
Calgary is an exciting city and more so than usual at this time of year. The first two weeks of July are taken up by the famous Calgary Stampede. This is an amazing time to be in Calgary and the amount of things to do is astounding. The Stampede is something that all residents look forward to as Calgary becomes a world-stage and welcomes hundreds of thousands of people and musical acts from around the world. These festivities showcase a rodeo every day, followed by the "Half Mile Of Hell" chuck wagon races and a fantastic stage show in the evenings. This is in addition to the western music concerts and free pancake breakfasts that happen on a daily basis. The Stampede is a family event that shows off some of the stronger assets of Calgary. It demonstrates the ability of the city to undertake large events and to do successfully on a long-term basis. The Stampede also draws major musical acts and this year is no exception. The festivities kick off with Bon Jovi and on following nights Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, Reba and finally The Tragically Hip. Aside from the main stage there are numerous other venues featuring acts such as Finger 11, Good Charlotte, Jann Arden, Merqury; A Tribute To Queen, and Trooper.
The Stampede is kind of like a yearly ambassador for the city of Calgary. Visitors get the opportunity to see Calgary operate under some fairly stressful conditions and the city always seems to handle the Stampede crowds and organization in stride. The ability to handle the crowds and the problems that typically arise when there are large numbers of people in one place speaks highly of the organizational ability and cohesion of the city. Living in a city where things are this organized simply means a more relaxed and stress-free style of life for residents. Calgary has repeatedly proven itself a fantastic place to live and currently home values in Calgary are on the rise. The expanding residential core and the growing business sector both have played major roles in this fact and Calgary looks to have a bright and lucrative future in store.

Decorating an Investment Property
If you've purchased a property for investment purposes, or are thinking of doing so, then you need to be very careful when you come to decorating your purchase. Our simple tips can help.
Property has increasingly come to be seen as a good investment. Whether you are looking to generate a rental return, or simply relying on capital growth, it is possible to make money on property if you pick the right property in a good location.
For those starting out on the road to building a property portfolio, the importance of decorating their investment is often overlooked. Making the right choices when it comes to the interior will not simply give you a warm glow - it could add significant value to your investment.
Looking at the rentals market, it is easy to see why. Most tenants do not have the rights to make significant alterations to the house or apartment that they rent. This means that if the interior looks awful then they will be stuck with it for the period of their tenancy.
What this means is that if you get the interior decorating right then you can benefit from greater demand from potential tenants.
Similarly, if you are looking to sell your property at some point in the future, then you can really benefit by making the property feel like a potential home, rather than yet another house that's on the market. Decorating intelligently can make you money and make the small additional effort worthwhile.
So let's take a look at some specifics - how should you go about decorating?
The key here is to keep things simple. Try to stick to neutral colours (such as creams, magnolias and pale shades) - they may seem a bit dull but they are the type of colours that people are far less likely to find objectionable.
Attempting to use a more complex array of colours may leave you with problems - just because the property is decorated to your own personal tastes does not necessarily mean that it will appeal to others.
Also, keep your target market in mind. If you have purchased an apartment in a city location and are hoping to sell or rent it as an executive apartment then it will be worth spending a bit more money on a quality finish.
If, on the other hand, you are intending on renting the property to students then you may find that expensive finishes are a poor investment.
Keep things simple and consider potential buyers or tenants. If you do these two things then you won't go far wrong.

Pregnancy Complications In Women Over Thirty
Pregnancy complications in women over thirty are several as age plays an important role in pregnancy. There has been a growing tendency to have children well over the age of thirty as nowadays in many families both partners are busy with their professional lives. This is also because many couples are unaware that the risks during pregnancy are higher in a women aged 30 and above. In fact these days it is not unusual for women above 40 and even 50 planning a pregnancy! It is a fact that many older women have successfully given birth to healthy babies and have had no complications, but there are a few risk factors associated with the advancing age of the expectant mother.
Factors That Affect Pregnancy In Older Women
The foremost pregnancy problem in women above 30 is getting pregnant itself! This is because fertility of women starts to decrease with age and in cases where women are over 30 they may even need fertility treatment which has the increased risk of inducing multiple pregnancies in some cases.
A few of the most common pregnancy complications in women over thirty are hypertension, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, placental abruption or placental pervia and bleeding or spotting. Women older than 35 years also have a greater risk of carrying pre-term babies, low birth weight babies and in many cases the babies may be in need of neonatal care. Older expectant women also have an increased chance of having multiple pregnancies. The incidence of fetal death during the last trimester is also high in women older than 35.
Other pregnancy complications in women over thirty include the risks of giving birth to a baby with Down's syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities. Medical tests such as amniocentesis are done to determine risks to the unborn child.
One other risk during pregnancy in older women is the effect that disease conditions of the heart, kidney, or diabetes and hypertension have on the health of the pregnant women. The chances of still birth also increase with age as does the need for a C-section.
These are just a few of the pregnancy complications in women over thirty. It gives you a general idea of some of the risk factors associated with the advancing age of the expectant mother. Remember that women from all age brackets do have their set of pregnancy complications and that despite the high risk and complications involved, many of them have ensured that they have a safe and healthy pregnancy by following the advice of their consultants and by adopting proper pregnancy planning techniques.
Most pregnancy complications in women over thirty can be prevented and the chances of a health pregnancy and birth increased by following a regime of regular nutritious meals, recommended exercise, prescribed increased intake of folic acid and other supplements and by having a positive outlook and attitude.
